Kleur : diep purperrood met in de geur zwarte kersen en rozen, rosé pepertje en moerbei. Levendige en volle aanzet in de smaak met een volumineuze en satijnen body en lange door drop en cacaotonen ondersteunde afdronk.
Druiven : Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Merlot (42%), Petit Verdot (6%) en Cabernet Franc (2%). Drinkbaar vanaf 2024-2040. Weer een Medoc met optimale prijs-kwaliteit verhouding voor in het restaurant of thuis.
Château Chasse-Spleen is één van de tophuizen uit Moulis-en-Médoc. Het is geen Grand Cru Classé, maar doet qua kwaliteit niet onder en presteert zelfs regelmatig beter. Lange tijd had Chasse-Spleen de ‘Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel’-status, maar in 2003 is het château uit het klassement gestapt. “I have reservations about the principle of a hierarchy. There will always be the disgruntled few that will not accept being left out. There will always be legal proceedings. Consumers want stability, not court cases”, aldus Jean-Pierre Foubet, managing director van Château Chasse-Spleen.

“The 2016 Chasse-Spleen has a very elegant bouquet with neatly integrated oak, the terroir really showing through here, hints of cedar and smoke emerging with time. The palate is fresh as a button on the entry. It is cut through with a superb line of acidity that engenders superb tension, the tannins firm but fine with a subtle marine influence towards the persistent finish.
